My History

The Story

I first started drawing during COVID, a time when everything slowed down and I suddenly found myself unable to work. It was a stressful and uncertain season, so I started drawing — something grounding in the middle of everything that felt overwhelming.

Then, I began with pattern design. I was drawn to patterns everywhere, and I loved how calming it felt to create something from small, intentional marks. Over time, that naturally evolved into watercolor botanical painting — a medium and subject matter that I completely fell in love with. Painting plants, flowers, and natural forms felt like a way of slowing down and paying attention to beauty in in nature.

During this period, my life was also changing in the biggest way — I had my two children. My first child was an especially difficult sleeper, and those early years were often exhausting and intense. But even in the middle of sleepless nights, endless days, and the demands of motherhood, I kept painting. Almost every single day, I would find a small window of time to create, no matter how tired I was.

I’m deeply inspired by artists such as Janet Pulcho, Jess Meyer, Shealeen Louise, and Ingrid Elias, whose work reflects the kind of colour pairing and detail I strive for in my own paintings.
